Food Intolerance Testing

Food intolerance or sensitivities are very common. They affect your well-being and, in the long term, they may cause diseases.

It is important to eliminate products that you are sensitive to from your diet. This will help you to restore your health if you already have any chronic diseases.

Food intolerance testing can become the most important step in restoring your health and well-being.

In this video post, I talk about the tests that I’ve used myself – immunoglobulins and bioresonance tests, as well as the FODMAP diet.

Food Intolerances

Symptoms

Food intolerances are reactions to foods that are much more subtle than allergies. Though they are not life-threatening, they can harm your health and well-being.

Food sensitivities can cause dysregulation of your digestion, leading to bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation.

The inability to digest one food will affect the ability to digest any food and supply your body with vital nutrients.

Your immune system may react to the non-tolerated food components. Your immune system will be in a constant state of war with the food you eat.

All the above can lead to further typical intolerance symptoms like fatigue, headaches, skin irritation, and dysregulation of the menstrual cycle.

A continuous immune response to foods can cause autoimmune diseases like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Food intolerances are a known component of Hashimoto’s.

Prevalence

Food intolerances are estimated to affect up to 20% of the population. However, no reliable, proven, and established diagnostic methods for food intolerances exist. Also, most people are not aware of food intolerances. Regular doctors do not advise testing for them; they only treat symptoms.

In my opinion, it is quite natural that everybody is unique and will be sensitive to one or the other product. So, anyone could have an intolerance to one or the other product.

The most common are food intolerances to gluten and cow milk. The fact that grains have been modified to an extreme extent to withstand any weather conditions and parasites makes them simply indigestible to humans as well.

Immunoglobulin tests

Immunoglobulins are antibodies. Immunoglobulin testing detects antibodies to certain foods in your blood. So, this test shows which products your immune system is fighting.

You can order such a test online and perform it at home. But there are also labs specializing in antibody testing.

They will usually test for IgG and IgE. Though the IgE and IgG tests are praised as a golden standard, any immunoglobulin test is limited to a specific range of products.

My experience

I used such a test a decade ago. It showed sensitivity to gluten and milk products.

I restored my gut health after excluding gluten and milk products from my diet. This was a significant step towards my remission of Hashimoto’s.

Bioresonance hair testing

What is (Not) Known

Bioresonance hair testing is based on measuring the biofield. Biofield technology has been developing in past decades for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

Though interactions with biofields have not been fully understood or proven yet, they have been successfully used to treat diseases. Biofield technology development has allowed for the testing and studying of biofields.

The biofield contains information about biological processes rather than chemical composition.

Bioresonance testing | Biological electromagnetic fields

Biofield interactions partially operate via low-energy or “subtle” processes such as weak, nonthermal electromagnetic fields (EMFs).

Biofield interactions may also operate in more well-understood informational processes in electroencephalographic (EEG) and electrocardiographic (ECG) data.

Advantages

I chose the bioresonance test because:

  • It is non-invasive, which makes a huge difference when you test children, as I did
  • it covers a vast spectrum of foods and compounds – foods and non-foods, including metal intolerances as well as vitamin and mineral deficiencies
  • the price is low compared to antibody testing, especially if you test the whole family, as I did
  • I found (there exist) accredited laboratories that assure high-quality testing

My experience

Because we tested the whole family (four people), I could assess that the results were not random but reflected our specific personal diets.

PersonResultComment
1Food intolerances: strong reaction to rye, salmon, lactose

Non-food intolerances: Ficus plant

Deficiencies: arginine, molybdenum

Previously tested with IgG test and known intolerance to rye, wheat, and milk. Regular consumption of rye and salmon before the test

Exposure to ficus plant. After removing the plant, itching and wounds disappeared

A Flexitarian, low-protein diet could have caused arginine deficiency. Regular, long-term supplementation with rare metals (selenium and zink) could have suppressed the assimilation of the rare and not-supplemented element molybdenum.
2Food intolerances: all spices

Deficiencies: potassium
Daily consumption of hot spices

Intensive running and sweating lead to loss of electrolytes like potassium
3Food intolerances: milk

Deficiencies: creatine, isoleucine, docosahexaenoic acid, vitamin B3, gallic acid
Sensitivity to milk products is highly common.

Vitamin B3 and amino acid deficiency could have been caused by low consumption of meat, especially red meat.
4Food intolerances: gluten

Deficiencies: vitamin B3, zeaxanthin

Gluten sensitivity is highly common and could have been caused by extensive consumption of bread, pasta, and pizza.

Vitamin B3 deficiency could have been caused by low consumption of meat, especially red meat.
Foods containing the highest amounts of zeaxanthin are dark green leafy vegetables. Children usually avoid those, which is especially true for this person. However, zeaxanthin plays an essential role in eye health.

Results

Bioresonant testing results can be verified by eliminating foods or non-foods like I did with ficus and saw a fast disappearance of the skin irritation.

Metals listed in the list of metal sensitivities can be avoided by water purification by choosing organic cosmetics and cleaning supplies.

FODMAP Diet

The FODMAP diet designed by Monash University reduces symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). About 15% of the world’s population is affected by ABS.

FODMAP diet by Monash university

It is a diet based on the elimination principle diet. FODMAP diet tests sensitivities to sugars and short-chain carbohydrates. Fodmaps are:

  • fructose (fruits, honey, etc.)
  • lactose (dairy)
  • fructans (wheat, garlic, onion, etc.)
  • galactans (legumes)
  • polyols (artificial sweeteners)

The foods high on FODMAP can be divided into the following groups:

  • eggs, meats, poultry, and fish
  • dairy
  • non-dairy meat alternatives
  • grains
  • fruits
  • vegetables
  • desserts
  • beverages
  • seasoning and condiments

FODMAP Protocol

Step 1. At the beginning of the diet, all high FODMAP products are excluded from the diet for a few weeks.

You can supplement with high-quality probiotics (or fermented vegetables) and enzymes during this step. This helps you to restore your gut health faster.

Step 2. Then, each food group is re-introduced individually. If any of the groups cause digestion problems, it is eliminated again.

Step 3. Protocol results in a personalized FODMAP diet.

Determining which products in each group are high and which are low on FODMAPs is complicated. You can either seek the support of a trained nutritionist or use a list, a book, or a dedicated app to make the right choices.

Monash University has developed its own FODMAP app with the FODMAP guide and recipes. It is the most complete app. It is continuously updated according to Monash University’s new research findings.

The process can be repeated if the desired result is not achieved after the first cycle.

Unique Value of FODMAP Protocol

The significant advantage of this diet is that you can figure out what products you are sensitive to but also achieve profound gut healing.

Since it is almost impossible to develop and afford medical tests for every possible product, the FODMAP protocol has the unique value of testing any product you consume.

FODMAP Protocol Booster

The healing effect of the FODMAP protocol can be boosted by consuming high-quality digestive enzymes and probiotics along with product elimination.

  1. The digestion process gives us energy and consumes a lot of energy in our body. Taking enzymes will support your digestion and reduce the workload on the digestive system. This will allow your digestive system to use spare energy for the healing process and heal faster.

2. Digestive problems cause changes in your microbiome, allowing the growth of undesired harmful microorganisms. This weakens further the digestion but also your immune system because your microbiome plays a crucial role in your immune defense. Furthermore, a pathological microbiome will negatively affect your psychological state.

Consuming or supplementing probiotics supports your digestion and is essential for your health especially when the gut needs to be healed.

Traditional fermented vegetables can be an excellent, rich, and diverse source of probiotics for your body. As little as one spoon can be taken with each meal doing a perfect job!

Food Intolerance FAQ

Can I eat bread if I bake it on fermented sourdough because, during the fermentation process, the gluten protein is destroyed?

It depends on your sensitivity. I cannot tolerate even sourdough bread and eat instead foods made with oat, buckwheat, or other gluten-free flour.
